Caught a Zales Outlet Sale on Its Last Day, Saved Half on a Birthday Gift

Jewelry isn't something you check weekly, so the email arrives, goes in with everything else, and the sale ends the same day it landed. Vlingo flagged a Zales Outlet 50% off on its last day, a few weeks before a birthday that had already been half-planned.

This is why I kept missing the offers. It's not a weekly shop, I'm not sitting there wondering what Zales are up to. So the email arrives, goes in with everything else, and the sale is over the same day it turned up.
The real 50% sales cluster around gift holidays
The other thing I've worked out is that the proper 50 percent ones mostly land around gift holidays. Black Friday, Valentine's, the two weeks either side of Mother's Day, Father's Day and so on. The rest of the year it's buy more save more, ten or fifteen percent, which is fine but not for jewelry.
So if the birthday you're buying for doesn't happen to sit near one of those, you're either paying full price or you're waiting months.
